For our sixth randomly-selected Ring Magazine Fight of the Year to score, analyze, and rank (1970-2021), the Dice of Doom and Destiny selected for us the bout from 1979 to contest both the WBC and The Ring featherweight titles, between "Little Red" Danny Lopez (the WBC champ) and Mike "Cyclone" Ayala (The Ring champ).
The bout is an impressive one with a late stoppage, but is marred by the fact that Ayala failed a post-fight drug test. But, as usual, we do not just take Ring Magazine's word for things - we check it our ourselves.
So what to Butch and Rob think about the fight? Why not give us a listen and score along with us?
