Peter Winick is the founder and CEO of Thought Leadership Leverage.
Peter spent years turning down offers to write a book - he does not especially enjoy writing and did not think anyone wanted to read a catalogue of consulting frameworks. Then on a rainy Saturday he dropped thirty of his own podcast transcripts into ChatGPT and asked it what patterns it saw, and the answers were things he had said out loud himself and completely forgotten. By the end they had fed in 650 transcripts - 2.3 million words, about fifty business books' worth - and the models he already had could finally be wrapped in the stories of the real people who lived them. His sharpest rule has nothing to do with any of that: never, under any circumstances, call yourself a thought leader. It is a title other people confer, and claiming it yourself does the opposite of what you want.
Expect to learn why calling yourself a thought leader instantly distances you from the people you want to reach, why an influencer is really a coercer and why the term never sat right with him, the difference between thought leadership and content marketing and why business people keep conflating them, why not everybody is actually in a position to be a thought leader, why you should commit to fifty episodes before you let yourself judge whether it's working, why interesting people are so often difficult guests and what that costs the host, why "everyone" is the wrong answer to who you serve, why chasing the radical idea beats far fewer people than the incremental one, and why the default setting on most AI is to placate you into thinking you're brilliant and much more…
