What up dogs ! On this episode I’m joined by married couple The Whittingtons. Together Brandon and Jess run a Podcast and YouTube series called InLiftingColor where they lift, listen and support BIPOC voices in the functional fitness space.
In our convo we dove into what “healthy” meant to them growing up in their respective households. Then leading into how they got into CrossFit and some less than stellar situations we’ve all had to face usually being the only brown person in the room in most CF and weightlifting gyms. It should go without saying that none of us need to be reminded of our blackness by someone else at any time.
We wrapped the convo up talking about top level black athletes having a target on their back between being the face of representation and just wanting to be an athlete first. With that we discuss Cf new CEO Eric Roza and some initiatives we think he could get behind to better support the black and brown communities in a sustainable manner.
