Description

What happens when the role that defined you is suddenly gone?

For veterans, first responders, business owners, athletes, fathers, and anyone going through a major life transition, losing a role can feel like losing part of yourself.

I know that feeling.

I spent 10 years in the Navy, more than 17 years in law enforcement, owned a gym, and built different versions of my identity around each chapter. When those chapters ended, I had to confront a much harder question:

Who am I without the uniform?

In this Battle Ready Solo episode, I talk about identity after military service and law enforcement, losing my gym, watching relationships and roles change, and why sometimes we don't actually miss the job—we miss who we were when we had it.

I also walk through The Uniform Check, four questions designed to help you separate who you are from what you do and figure out where your experience, leadership, discipline, and purpose belong next.

Because the uniform can come off.

The title can disappear.

The career can end.

But that doesn't mean your usefulness, purpose, or story did.
