Anger is usually the reaction. The harder question is what's underneath it.

After Gus watched a clip from my Battle Ready Solo episode Why Good Men Become Angry Men, we ended up talking about our own experiences with anger, why losing control isn't strength, how easily we can misunderstand what other people mean, and what we've learned about slowing down before reacting.

Sometimes the most important question isn't who pissed you off or what happened.

It's why did it affect you that way?

This is In Between Sets, the occasional Battle Harder limited series where Gus and I have real conversations about life, relationships, fatherhood, mental health, and whatever comes up after the workout.

No script. Just the conversation.

Pain Into Progress.

And strategically, I like this use of In Between Sets. Battle Ready gives the structured lesson; In Between Sets lets Gus challenge, react to, or expand on it conversationally. That gives the Friday series a legitimate purpose instead of making it another random piece of content.
