In this message from Romans chapter 8, Elder Jonathan Moseley takes us deep into the Spirit's work in the lives of God's children. The Apostle Paul declares, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." From there, the chapter unfolds in two great assurances: no condemnation because of the Spirit's presence and work in us, and no condemnation because of God's eternal purpose. Today we look closely at the first—26 verses devoted to the Spirit's role. The Spirit is not an abstract idea—it is the very presence of God dwelling in His people. He brings new birth, testifies that we are children of God, enables us to mortify the deeds of the flesh, comforts us, intercedes in our weakness, and gives us hope of the resurrection. This sermon reminds us: The Spirit is proof of our adoption as sons and daughters of God. We are debtors—not to the flesh—but to live after the Spirit. Our present sufferings are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed. All creation is groaning, anticipating the redemption of our bodies. Even when we don't know how to pray, the Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, the Teacher, the Witness, and the Helper—given so that God's children know they are not alone in this present world. 📖 Romans 8:9–27
