Description

1 Peter 2:4–8 describes Jesus as the "living stone" rejected by men but chosen and precious in the sight of God. Believers are also called "living stones," being built into a spiritual house and a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus. The passage contrasts those who believe—who see Christ as precious—with those who reject Him, for whom He becomes a "stone of stumbling" and a "rock of offense." Rejection of Christ leads to spiritual downfall, and yet even this was predestined to occur.
