The Ordinary Life

"The ordinary life of a man among his fellows is not something dull and uninteresting. It is there that the Lord wants the vast majority of His children to achieve sanctity." —St. Josemaría Escrivá

Sanctity happens in the ordinary. In the everyday. In the life you're living right now.

Not just at the retreat or the conference. Not only on the pilgrimage or during the mountaintop experience. Those matter—they refuel us, inspire us, challenge us. But they're not where the vast majority of your life is lived.

Sanctity happens at the dinner table. In the morning commute. In the difficult conversation with a coworker. In washing the dishes. In showing up to work again. In loving the same people day after day.

The ordinary life is not dull. It's full of joy and heartache, frustration and beauty, mundane tasks and profound love.

This is where God wants you to become a saint.

Right here. In the ordinary.

Let us pray.

Lord, help us see the ordinary moments of our lives as opportunities for holiness. Teach us to find You in the everyday. Make us saints in the life we're actually living. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Keep fighting the good fight. Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.
