Today, we explore Daniel chapter 2, which I call “the ABCs of prophecy”—another one of the most foundational chapters for understanding Bible prophecy. This chapter provides a complete panorama from Daniel’s day to Christ’s Millennial Reign through Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a great statue. The statue represents four successive Gentile kingdoms during the “times of the Gentiles” when Israel is under foreign domination. The head of gold represents Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar, the chest and arms of silver represent the Persian Empire, the belly and thighs of bronze represent Greece under Alexander, and the legs of iron represent the Roman Empire. The feet of iron and clay with ten toes represent a future reunited Roman Empire ruled by ten kings simultaneously—possibly emerging from today’s European Union. A supernatural stone (Christ) will smash this final kingdom at His Second Coming and establish His Millennial Kingdom that fills the earth. This final victory isn’t a gradual spiritual conquest, but a sudden, cataclysmic destruction followed by Christ’s literal, visible earthly reign.
