This week I talk about God's new mercies. No matter what you've faced or failed at, His compassion for you is fresh again this morning — not because things are good, but because He is good.

Look What God Has Done

Inspired by real praise reports from the Tipping Point community, these testimonies celebrate God’s faithfulness, answered prayers, and the miracles He is still doing today. We pray they encourage your faith and remind you that God is still at work.

Change of Flight

By Kari Smalley Gibson, TP Community Storyteller

At nineteen, Bob Wilkinson was flying a small Cessna over Newfoundland when a routine flight became life-or-death.

Darkness fell. Clouds forced him dangerously low. Unable to navigate, Bob finally climbed into clouds he wasn’t trained to fly through. Rain pounded the windshield. Lightning flashed around him. His fuel gauges dropped to empty. Then his radio went silent.

Bob knew he might die.

Raised in church, he knew the stories, but God had never felt real to him. Alone in that cockpit, he prayed:

“God, if You’re out there, I could sure use Your help now. Please save me.”

Suddenly, the radio came back.

A U.S. Naval base found him on radar and helped guide him toward St. John’s. When Bob arrived, something remarkable awaited him. Although fog blanketed the surrounding area, the airport was completely clear. Bob landed safely.

But the greatest miracle was still ahead.

Bob had promised God he would go to church if He saved him—but Sunday came, and Bob didn’t go. Life moved on. His flying career took off, he became an airline pilot, and eventually married Shelagh. Yet Bob sometimes wondered about that night and other moments when he seemed strangely protected. Could there really be a God looking out for me?

Through conversations with Shelagh’s sister Jem and her husband Keith, Bob began asking questions about God. Jem challenged him to read the Bible: “Start with John.”

Nearly ten years after that flight, Bob was alone in a Montreal hotel room when he heard a preacher on television and noticed an open Bible on the desk. Remembering Jem’s words, he began reading. He accidentally opened to 1 John, but as he read the eyewitness testimony about Jesus, suddenly he understood.

Jesus was not just a story. He was real.

Bob prayed:

“Jesus, I want to be on Your team.”

He called Shelagh to tell her he had become a Christian. When he returned home, she told him she, too, had accepted Christ.

Friend, maybe you can look back and recognize God’s fingerprints on your life too. The accident you survived. The door that opened. The delay that protected you. The prayer He answered.

You are not forgotten. You are not flying blind. The same Jesus who rescued Bob and continued pursuing him is still rescuing, pursuing, and changing lives today.

That day, God didn’t just save Bob’s life. He changed his flight plan forever.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in…” (Revelation 3:20 NIV)
