This week is our next-to-last lesson on the Millennium—the Millennial Reign of Christ. As you’ve probably noticed, the title for today’s Prophecy Perspectives is a little different because I don’t focus on a single Bible passage, but refer to many passages to help us understand this broad question. Next time we’ll talk about what I call Satan’s last stand, when he’s released from the Abyss at the end of the Millennium. But before we leave this topic, I want to devote one video to a really important question that sometimes gets overlooked: Why is there going to be a Millennium? Why the millennium? Amillennialists and Postmillennialists would say we’re currently in the Millennium and when Jesus comes, there’ll be a general resurrection and judgment, then straight to the Eternal State. But the Premillennial position believes Christ will come to establish His Messianic Kingdom on earth for a literal thousand years. So what’s the purpose of Christ’s reign on earth? Why can’t we just go from the Second Coming straight to Eternity? I want to mention three important functions of the Millennium: to reward the faithful, to redeem creation, and to recognize the promises of God.

Key Facts

* Three Views on Millennium: Amillennial/Postmillennial—we’re in Millennium now (symbolic thousand years between first/Second Coming), general resurrection/judgment, straight to Eternal State; Premillennial—Christ comes to establish literal 1,000-year Messianic Kingdom on earth after return, ten centuries between Second Coming and New Heaven/Earth

* Three Purposes of Millennium: (1) Reward faithful—Daniel 7:18,22,27 saints possess Kingdom; 1 Corinthians 6:2 judge world/angels; Revelation 2:26–27 authority over nations; Revelation 20:4,6 reign with Christ 1,000 years; Revelation 5:10-11 “will reign upon earth” (future); Luke 19:11–26 believers given rulership based on faithfulness with treasure/talents—some rule 10 cities, some 5 cities; (2) Redeem creation—Romans 8:19–22 creation subjected to futility/groaning, will be set free from slavery to corruption; Adam/Eve sin brought curse on serpent, Satan, woman, man, nature (thorns/thistles); Isaiah 35 deserts bloom like rose, earth like Garden of Eden; fulfills God’s original purpose for Adam/Eve—bring all things under dominion; Dwight Pentecost: without millennium “God’s purpose for earth unrealized, Satan’s rebellion never resolved”; Jesus Second Adam accomplishes what first Adam failed; (3) Recognize God’s promises—four great unconditional Covenants: Abrahamic (Genesis 15), Land (Deuteronomy 30), Davidic (2 Samuel 7), New Covenant (Jeremiah 31); none literally fulfilled yet; fulfilled when Jesus sits on David’s throne ruling from Jerusalem over Israel; God is promise-making, promise-keeping God

* James Boice Quote: “Best and ultimate reason why there must be literal Millennium is that only in literal Millennium do we have meaningful culmination of world history”

The End Times Timeline: God’s Eternal Plan Revealed

This small comprehensive book, The End Times Timeline provides believers with an accessible framework for understanding biblical prophecy. It traces God’s prophetic program from the Old Testament through the eternal state. What’s particularly noteworthy is how current events align with ancient predictions—Israel’s restoration, technological advances enabling global surveillance, and the geopolitical alignment of nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38–39.

The timeline identifies key prophetic milestones: the Rapture preceding the Tribulation, the rise of Antichrist, the rebuilt Temple, and Christ’s Second Coming. While some debate the timing of particular events like the Gog-Magog War, the overall framework reflects solid Bible research. This resource serves as an excellent tool for both new believers seeking prophetic clarity and mature Christians desiring to understand their place in God’s unfolding plan.
