This week I share a good word on the peace that guards your heart. Most of us pray for the job, the healing, or the answer, but underneath it all we’re really asking for peace. I want to encourage you to hand your worries to God with thanksgiving and let His peace stand guard over your heart and mind.
Look What God Has Done
Inspired by real praise reports from the Tipping Point community, these testimonies celebrate God’s faithfulness, answered prayers, and the miracles He is still doing today. We pray they encourage your faith and remind you that God is still at work.
When God Rekindles the Fire
By Kari Smalley Gibson, TP Community Storyteller
At 28 years old, Erik Emerson admits he wasn’t always passionate about his faith. He grew up in a Catholic household and attended church and Sunday school as a child, but by high school, he had stopped going and was living life on his own terms.
His good friend Danae—who would eventually become his wife—kept inviting him to the Christian church where her father was the pastor. For four years, Erik found reasons not to go. But after falling in love with Danae, he finally decided to give it a chance. At 18, Erik surrendered his life to Christ and was baptized on August 24, 2015—the very same day he shipped out for Marine Corps boot camp.
For a while, his faith was strong. But over the years, Erik says he became lukewarm, and in 2022, life took a devastating turn. His father was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Erik became depressed, angry, numb, and began questioning God. Why would God allow his father to have cancer? Why did it seem like God was silent?
By September 2023, the treatments were making his father increasingly sick, and he decided to stop them. The doctors estimated that without treatment, he had only one to three months to live. But nearly two years later, Erik’s father was still alive.
Then came an MRI in May 2025 that gave the family even more reason to rejoice. Erik says the swelling around his father’s tumor was gone, and the tumor itself had shrunk to about half its previous size in both diameter and density—something he understood to be extremely rare with glioblastoma.
Erik couldn’t help but give God the glory.
And while Erik was watching something remarkable happen in his father’s life, God was doing something in his heart too. His faith began coming alive again. The numbness was replaced by a renewed awareness of God’s presence, and Erik found a boldness to share his faith that he hadn’t had before.
Today, Erik and Danae serve together with the youth at their church. Erik even uses teachings from Tipping Point to help encourage the young people they lead. The young man who once spent four years finding excuses not to go to church is now helping point another generation toward Jesus.
James 5:16 reminds us, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (NIV)
Dear friends, can I encourage you today? Don’t stop praying. I know some of you have been believing God for months—or even years—and you’re wondering if He still hears your prayers. Erik’s testimony is a beautiful reminder that God is always at work, even when we can’t see it. He still heals. He still changes hearts. And He still surprises us in ways only He can. Let’s keep trusting Him together, because our God is faithful.
