As we come to the close of our year-long journey through Prophecy Perspectives, I want to leave you with the ultimate perspective on prophecy. What’s the lens through which all prophecy must be viewed? What’s the thread woven through every prophetic passage? The simple answer is Jesus. Revelation 19:10 says it plainly: “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” The first prophecy in the Bible is about Jesus, which is that the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head. The final prophecy in Revelation 22 is Jesus saying, “I am coming quickly.” And all the prophecies in between are focused on Him. Even the Rapture isn’t just an event we’re waiting for—it’s a Person we’re waiting for. The Lord Himself will descend from Heaven. If our study of prophecy doesn’t draw us closer to Jesus, we need to pause and examine our hearts. He is the meaning of prophecy, history, and life.
