Easter has just passed, and I’ve been thinking a lot about our future resurrection bodies. We all have questions: What happens when a believer dies? What are we like between death and the Rapture? When do we get our new bodies, and what will they be like? Physical death is a separation of the soul and spirit from the body. For believers, we go immediately into the Lord’s presence—to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. But we receive our new glorified bodies at the Rapture. The dead in Christ will be raised imperishable, and the living will be transformed in an instant. Our new body will be patterned after Jesus’ resurrection body—real, touchable, recognizable, and powerful. It will be immortal, incorruptible, and indestructible. The Rapture can happen at any moment. So in the meantime, let’s be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
