Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Welcome to Raven's Readings.
I will be reading to you from Carry on Jeeves, a collection of short stories written by P. G. Wodehouse in 1925. Jeeves, a valet, and his employer Bertie Wooster were characters in dozens of short stories by Wodehouse. The chapters are a bit long, so I'll likely take two podcasts for each one.
Last episode, Bertie was helping out by pretending to be his friend Spiffy, while visiting some relatives of his friend in the country. It was complicated, but successful so far, since they had not seen Spiffy since childhood. When he tormented the aunt's cat, apparently – oh well. The only wrinkle is that a woman visiting, Heloise Pringle, is a clone of Bertie's dreaded ex-girlfriend Honoria Glossop, and she seems to have her sights on poor Bertie.
I do readings twice a week. If you subscribe to my Substack newsletter, you'll get notified of my updates as soon as they are ready. If you enjoy this reading, or have other classics you'd like to hear, leave me a comment.
