This Lenten message was preached at CityChurch in Iowa City on March 1, 2020, just before Covid-19 took over the globe. Three years later (can you believe it?!), we may still find ourselves in another wilderness of circumstances outside of our control. It’s in the wilderness of suffering and unanswered prayers where the enemy of our souls may tempt us to doubt God’s goodness and faithfulness. But take heart, because Jesus resisted the same temptations—standing his ground—and was strengthened by the Holy Spirit in due time, we can expect the same as we follow his example.
