I can’t tell you how happy I was to have a comedian in the house for this question, because behind the humor and the absurdity of the story we tell, there is a very real way in which bookstores are contributing to the downfall of robust readership in many communities, cultures and countries across the world (but especially in the United States).
It’s a strange day when you almost find yourself rooting for Amazon over local bookstores…
