Levina Teerlinc joined the royal court at the end of Henry VIII's reign. A talented artist, she is thought to have trained one of the most famous miniaturists of her era. She is also recorded as a "gentlewoman" of the queen's chamber in receipt of a handsome pension; clearly she made an impression that secured her wealth and status.
