This podcast episode is the second and final of two parts from a sharing of a
prior presentation by L. Robert "Larry" Smith, P.E., with permission. Split
between two episodes, Larry will share a number of classic cases, such as the
Citi Group Building (Part 1), the Ford Pinto case, and the GMC ignition case
(both Part 2), by first fully discussing the engineering issues and then
discussing the ethical questions. He will also present a local case based on an
ethics complaint that was heard by the RI Board of Registration for Professional
Engineers in open session (also Part 2).
In this episode you will learn
* The importance of being an ethical engineer
* Why engineers should seek the welfare of society
* How important is to act ethically even if it is difficult
* The importance of careful design considerations
