Despite being fortunate to beat the United States in the very first match of the tournament and being smashed by South Africa a week and a half later, India became the first country to win three T20 World Cup with a decisive victory over New Zealand in today’s final in Ahmedabad. They are also the first country to repeat as champions in what has been an incredibly competitive format of cricket.
India’s performance in its final three matches where they got by a West Indies squad last Sunday that were the better team on the day held off England, who were perhaps the greatest threat to win this tournament and then today’s final victory was a week for the ages.
