LouCity is out after a record-shattering season. A great accomplishment for Detroit City who two times in three years have just snuck into the playoffs on the last day and then beaten the Players Shield winner. But is this good for USL and mericratic Soccer in General? If USL is really going to set up a three division system of promotion of relegation, they need to do away with this clunky playoff format that rewards mediocrity and tends to punish excellence.
