This episode begins with a deck of questions cards, and ends as one of Meg and Amy Tianyi’s most honest and vulnerable conversations.
Would they have been friends in high school? Amy doesn’t think so because she believes their worlds were too different and their social circles would have been too separate.
Meg thinks she would have found her anyway.
From there, the conversation moves through motherhood; Meg describing it as a slower pace, a new way of finding meaning in the mundane, a journey that cannot be fully understood until you’re inside it. And work, with Amy sharing what it actually feels like to finally be in an environment where she can be her authentic self, surrounded by people who value what she brings to the table.
And then they land on love.
How do you know when you feel it? Amy feels loved when people respond, even if it’s not right away. When a message she sent days (or even months) ago gets a reply, to her, that proves someone was thinking about her that entire time.
Meg feels loved when someone demonstrates they truly know her.
They talk about love as an unlimited resource rather than a finite one. About the friendships that ask something of you and the ones that just hold you. About what it means to be truly seen by someone who has known you long enough to see all of it.
Topics covered:
* Would Meg and Amy have been friends in high school?
* How school size shapes the friendships we make and the people we become
* Meg on motherhood: slower pace, mundane meaning, personal transformation
* Amy on work: authenticity, smart colleagues, and choosing environments that value you
* How Amy feels loved: the message that gets a reply days later
* How Meg feels loved: being deeply known and tangibly shown
* Love as an unlimited resource, reframing how we give and receive it
Meg
Meg

If The Spark has ever made you feel a little less alone in the in-between — in a culture, a career, a relationship, a version of yourself you’re still figuring out — this one’s for you.
There are three small things that make a big difference for us, and they’ll take you less than a minute:
First, follow or subscribe to The Spark wherever you listen. It’s the single most important thing you can do for this show — and it means you’ll never miss a conversation. Just head to our show page on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your favorite podcast app and tap follow.
While you’re there, a five-star rating and a written review helps more people find us — and it means more to us than we can say.
And if an episode moved you, made you think, or made you send a voice note to a friend at midnight — share it. That’s how The Spark grows.
We make this show because we believe these conversations matter. Thank you for being part of it.
