Lyrics:Me and my uncle went ridin' downTo South Colorado, West Texas boundWe stopped over in Santa FeThat day on the pony, just about halfwayAnd you know it was the hottest part of the day

And I took the horses up to the stallWent to the barroom, ordered drinks for allThree days in the saddle, you know my body hurtIt being summer, I took off my shirtAnd I tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt

West Texas cowboys, they was all aroundWheat, liquor and money, they loaded downSo soon after payday, no, it seemed a shameYou know my uncle, he starts playin' the gameHey now, high-low jack and the winner take the hand

My uncle start winning, the cowboys got soreOne of them called him, and then two moreAccused him of cheatin', oh no, it couldn't beI know my uncle, he's as honest as meHey now, I'm as honest as a Denver man can be, that's right

One of them cowboys, he starts to drawAnd I shot him down, Lord, he never sawShot me another, hot damn, he won't grow oldIn the confusion, my uncle grabbed the goldAnd we hightail it down to Mexico

Now I love those cowboys, I love their goldLove my uncle, God rest his soulTaught me good, Lord, taught me all I knowTaught me so well, that I grabbed that goldI left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

About the Live Video:As with previous shows, I’m going to release a song a week until the complete show is uploaded and archived on Substack. This concert is being released in support of the new single “Perpetual Change” (released on November 8, 2024). We started video taping and recording our live shows consistently in 2023, when I took over the live sound. Prior to that the recording sound quality was a bit spotty.
