Gills fans’ hopes of a pre-Christmas tonic were left disappointed as the team produced another insipid awayday display, this time at second-from-bottom Forest Green Rovers.
The game saw the division’s lowest scorers (Gillingham) against the second-lowest scorers (Forest Green Rovers), so it should perhaps have come as no surprise that the match ended in a goalless stalemate. But, with the club’s hopes of being promotion challengers – either via the automatic places, or via the playoffs – failing to even register a goal against one of the division’s relegation strugglers came as a huge disappointment to the Gills fans, who let their frustrations be known on social media after the match.
On this episode, The ME7 Podcast crew attempted to unpack another disheartening result, with the jury still very much out on new boss Stephen Clemence, while the man uncermoniously dumped from the club, Neil Harris, is off to a flying start at League 1 Cambridge.
The result might not have been too merry, but everyone here at The ME7 Podcast wishes everyone a Merry Christmas! Fingers crossed for a positive result at home on Boxing Day…
