With Gillingham on a six-match winless run and set to face a side from the division above, Gills fans headed to Priestfield on Saturday did so more in hope than expectation.
Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed as the Gills fell to a sixth defeat from their last seven outings with a 2-0 home defeat to Blackpool as they crashed out of the FA Cup at the first attempt.
It means the club’s wretched run of form continues, as the Gills mustered just two shots on target in 90 minutes at home as they went out of the FA Cup with a whimper.
