After a long winless run, Gillingham faced a stern test at home as they welcomed league leaders Port Vale to Priestfield. And, on a crisp Saturday afternoon at ME7, Mark Bonner’s men rolled up their sleeves and scrapped hard over a scrappy 90 minutes to earn a priceless 1-0 win.
Substitute Jayden Clarke made the all-important breakthrough in the final 10 minutes as he headed into the far corner to give the Gills something to hang on to in the final minutes of the match.
