Description

A day of accountability is coming. It could have been directed at the nepo baby orange post turtle with ties to child rapists. Collectively, as a nation, we could have made the decision to make him answer for his crimes.

Instead, this corrupt society let him wriggle off the hook. But somebody still has to pay, so it looks like it’s going to be the rest of us.

Yup. That’s how this works. A debt has to be paid. But we’re a nation that reveres billionaires. We’re a nation where every citizen is expected to skip meals and work a few more unpaid hours so that billionaires can survive.

We rally around cries to denounce “socialism.” We cut funds to schools. We cut funds to roads. We cut funds to finance our food supply, and we send billions of dollars to a privileged few so that they can have the time of their lives.

Does it make sense?

Does it make sense that we don’t even talk about it?

Does that matter?

Here we are.

In 2026, nobody is going to be able to afford health care and people are going to die. Meanwhile, MAGA is screaming, “Suck it liberals!”

That’s something they scream on their death beds. They did it during COVID. They’re doing it today.

Imagine spending your precious time on this Earth so utterly consumed by hate. What a waste.

“We can’t hire qualified people for any jobs, what’s the matter with you? You’re nothing but an elitist snob!” That’s the MAGA way. They care only about the unqualified, the bullies, the impolite, the unrepentant.

I’ll say it again, people are going to die.

When oh when will the collective fever break? Over this last year I’ve found myself alternating between hopefulness and despair. Back and forth, back and forth. Lately, I’m finding fewer and fewer moments to cheer. Now I just want it to end. I want the insanity to end. I want to live in a nation that reveres kindness and compassion.

Instead, we live in a nation that votes for hate.

They take hate and polish it and set it on a pedestal and then they kneel before it and scream incoherent praise. The United States of America worships hate, and that means people will die.

It’s too late for celebrations. Now we’re just buckled in awaiting the final tidal wave that will capsize the whole system. You can’t scream in defiance or praise when you’re under water.

The whole nation is about to go under water.

The billionaires put us there.

Lately, I’ve been disturbed by the vibe I see on new media. It used to be that the stories were vibrant and new. But I think the billionaires saw that and decided they had to quash that too. Today, new media is beginning to look the same as any other form of media.

The stories are sounding the same. People are spinning their wheels in discussion of the same old controversies.

There’s nobody standing on the corner holding up a cardboard sign that reads, “The end of the world is nigh!”

But there should be.

In 2026, a lot of Americans will die. They’ll lose their health care. Their homes will be underwater. They’ll catch bullets in an illegal war. They’ll be round up by the secret police.

Because when you vote for hate you get death. We just have to buckle down and try to survive. Those of us who make it through the coming apocalypse have to learn a lesson of humility and resolve to teach our children better.

Our false pride has been stripped away. The hubris that compelled us to cheer is dead on the vine. Whatever false ideology that pressured us to disregard the crimes of the privileged has gone away.

We can hold evil people accountable, or we can hold everyone else accountable.

There’s a debt that has to be paid.

Why did we choose to let billionaires go free and condemn our children to a life of suffering?

Some people are still skeptical as they read this, but wait. The odds are not in our favor. Nothing teaches humility like pain. The United States of America elected its teacher, but not the one it expected.

We’re not ready for what’s going to happen, but we’ll learn.

If we make it.
