Description

In Episode 89: The Mini, Joe, Nick, and Georgia recap Episode 88: The Crazies, and tie up a few loose ends. Who was the man that stopped sleeping? Did mattress companies invent the eight-hour of sleep for marketing? And there are a couple fun events happening at Reed’s Local, a Halloween Bike ride on October 29th, and a Karaoke Costume Party on the 31st.

In the Science Holes: The Nikon microscopy contest winner was found to have used Generative AI enhancements, and the crew discusses. The New York Times curated a list of 100 questions that scientists ponder, and Nick thinks this should be our next 100 episodes. A new cat species may turn out to be more than one, raising questions about conservation efforts, and Georgia and Nick wrestle with what a species even is (episode ideas: X-Men/Homo Superior, and Planet of the Apes). A modified parasite drug could bring some relief to endometriosis suffering, and Nick was freaked out by the cyborg cockroaches, but all Joe could think about was The Fifth Element and Georgia wondered what protections bugs get in scientific research.Go visit our friends at Reed’s Local (Say Hi to Melissa):

Cycling Club, Oct 29 at 5:30: Ride 4 to 8 miles through the Avondale neighborhood and check out the Halloween decorations.
