The birth of Jesus is a familiar story, but the momentous significance of the event is less familiar. Luke 2 begins by mentioning Caesar Augustus, probably the most well-known and revered person of the first century. He was called "savior," and "lord," and "god." In an insignificant corner of his empire, a baby was born who would be the true Savior and Lord and God. He was born to a world that needs him desperately. He is going to fix everything.
