Description

Here’s something I’ve noticed about Substack.

We spend so much time creating content, sharing Notes, commenting on other people’s posts, and trying to get visible.

But have you ever stopped to think about what happens when someone actually clicks on your name?

Where do they end up?

And more importantly, do they know what to do once they get there?

Because your Substack profile and your publication are not the same thing.

And there’s another little detail that catches people by surprise.

Someone can follow you on Substack without ever subscribing to your publication.

That means you could be building a lovely following, having wonderful conversations, and getting plenty of attention without necessarily growing your email subscriber list.

Now, I’m certainly not suggesting followers aren’t valuable. I love the social side of Substack! I’ve met some amazing people here, and I’m all about connecting, supporting, and recommending other writers.

But visibility needs to lead somewhere.

And if you’re using Substack to attract clients, build authority, or create income from your content, it’s important to understand the difference.

Meet Aster and Kai!

I’ve been experimenting with something new, and I’m pretty excited about it.

I already have an Amplify Your Mission podcast, and I’ve decided to give it a little makeover.

Meet Aster and Kai, two members of my AI team at The Coach’s Alchemist!

Aster is our resident strategist. He loves connecting the dots between visibility, content, and growing a business.

Kai is our curious little problem-solver, who likes to keep things simple and occasionally remind Aster that not everything needs a complicated explanation.

Together, they’re going to be hosting short conversations about Substack, podcasting, content marketing, and using AI to make building a business a little easier.

The ideas and strategies come from me. Aster and Kai help bring them to life.

And yes, they’re AI. We’re not pretending otherwise. 😂

For their first episode, they’re tackling something I think every Substack writer should understand.

Your Substack Profile Is Not Your Publication.

Tomorrow, we’re going a little deeper

Every Sunday, I’ve been publishing a practical Substack tutorial as part of my series:

Your Substack Isn’t Broken. It’s Just Half-Built.

Each week, we look at one of those little pieces of Substack that can make a surprisingly big difference in whether people discover your work, subscribe, and eventually become paying clients or customers.

We’ve already looked at the foundation of your publication, the five-second clarity test, and making sure your wordmark is actually doing its job.

Tomorrow, we’re tackling:

They’re Following You on Substack. But Are They Subscribing?

We’re going beyond understanding the difference.

I’m going to show you how to create a simple path from your Notes to your publication, give your followers a reason to subscribe, and use content you’ve already written to encourage that next step.

And this week, we’re trying something new.

Instead of putting the practical instructions behind a paid paywall, I’m experimenting with Substack’s Freewall.

You’ll be able to read the introduction and watch my screen-share tutorial without subscribing. Then you can unlock the complete walkthrough with a free subscription.

No payment required.

I’m curious to see how this works, and of course I’ll share what I learn.

In the meantime, take a look at your own Substack profile.

If someone clicked your name today, would they immediately recognize you and understand what you have to offer?

It’s worth checking.

And while you’re at it, come join us in the Learn Substack community on Skool, where we host our Daily Notes Boost thread. Members share their Notes, support one another’s content, and build genuine relationships with other writers.

Because getting visible is wonderful.

But visibility that leads somewhere is even better.

See you tomorrow!
