Being a witness to women in my salon chair for 20_ years…….I know first hand that for many, women feel like strangers in their own spiritual connection due to what has been taken from our true story of internal power and hierarchical systems we’re born into.
Today’s episode exposes how Sophia’s wisdom was suppressed—and why women everywhere are waking up to a new, ancient path.
I don’t take the Divine Feminine Lightly.
It is critical and a high calling to all women to unite - not compete and compare and despair.
WE MUST change this paradigm of fear.
Sophia’s Resurgence of the Divine Feminine in the Modern World
For centuries, the divine feminine presence of Sophia was hidden and suppressed within patriarchal Christianity.
References to her divine wisdom were obscured, as the Old Testament reduced her to the lowercase "wisdom."
Let me tell you a story—a story that was nearly lost to history, hidden beneath layers of dogma and rewritten narratives.
It's the story of Sophia, the divine wisdom, and her powerful partnership with Christ in the earliest days of Christianity.
You see, in the beginning, Sophia danced through creation.
She was there before the stars, before the earth, before time itself—a radiant force moving in harmony with the masculine principle, rooted in the very foundations of existence.
The ancients called her Sophia, which literally means "wisdom" in Greek. For the early Christians, especially the mystical Gnostics, she was revered as the feminine face of the divine.
Sophia wasn't just a symbolic figure; she was an active presence, a spiritual guide alongside Christ, embodying the sacred union of masculine and feminine energies that sustain the cosmos (Pagels, 1979).
In fact, the Gnostic texts found at Nag Hammadi in 1945—such as the "Sophia of Jesus Christ," the "Pistis Sophia," and the "Gospel of Philip"—paint a vivid image of her central role.
These texts describe Sophia as both cosmic mother and a figure who experiences human-like struggles, symbolizing the soul’s journey through suffering and redemption.
She descends into the lower realms, tricked by archons (malevolent beings), suffering greatly as she searches for the true divine light.
Only when she exhausts every worldly refuge and cries out sincerely does Christ, representing the Logos, come to rescue her, guiding her back to her divine origin (Robinson, 1990).
This profound narrative mirrors our own spiritual journey, reminding us that wisdom often emerges through struggle, suffering, and eventual awakening.
Interestingly, Sophia’s presence was once woven into the very fabric of early Christian rituals.
The Eucharist wasn't just about remembering Christ’s sacrifice; it was also a celebration of Sophia’s wisdom.
Wine symbolized her blood, just as bread symbolized Christ’s body, uniting participants with both the masculine and feminine aspects of the divine (King, 2003).
Even today, the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul—"Holy Wisdom Cathedral"—stands as a silent testament to her once-central significance.
But if Sophia was so important, why don't we see her honored today?
Well, as Christianity became institutionalized under Roman rule, mystical understandings were replaced by rigid dogma.
Sophia’s voice was gradually silenced, her powerful presence diminished and replaced by a patriarchal vision of divinity.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was elevated to divine status, but even she retained only faint echoes of Sophia’s original wisdom and power (Pagels, 1979).
This suppression was not an accident; it was a deliberate rewriting of sacred narratives to maintain control and conformity.
Yet, Sophia’s wisdom refused to remain buried. Rediscoveries like the Nag Hammadi texts have reignited interest in her teachings, revealing a lost spiritual heritage. These writings also offer intriguing insights into Mary Magdalene, often seen as embodying Sophia herself.
According to some esoteric accounts, Mary Magdalene and Yeshua even had a child, forced to flee persecution and travel to Gaul (modern-day France), where Mary continued teaching in secrecy.
Her wisdom became embedded in mystical traditions like the Cathars and later the Templars, who revered her as the true keeper of Christic mysteries (Starbird, 1993).
Why does this matter today?
Because, dear sister, we are living in a time of profound awakening. The divine feminine, long buried and silenced, is rising again—not in anger or vengeance, but in strength, grace, and compassion.
This is not a call to arms, but a call to soften, to heal, and to restore balance. For too long, humanity has lived out of balance because the feminine was forgotten. Women lost their divine reflection, and men were denied a relationship with the nurturing, intuitive aspects of divinity. The Earth herself has suffered because of this imbalance.
Sophia’s story reminds us of the sacred dance between masculine and feminine energies—the mystical marriage that underlies all existence.
She teaches us that true strength lies not in domination, but in sovereignty, surrender, and receptivity. She calls women to trust themselves again.
But now, the divine feminine is reemerging into the collective consciousness of women worldwide. Sophia, the personification of spiritual wisdom, is being reclaimed and restored to her rightful place.
Across the globe, women are awakening to the suppressed history of goddess worship and the divine feminine, which long predated the rise of patriarchal monotheism.
They are rediscovering the Gnostic Christian teachings that celebrated Sophia, only to be denounced as heresy.
Sophia's Resurgence: Women Awakening to the Suppressed Wisdom of the Ages
As women enter the "wise woman" phase of their lives, Sophia's archetypical energy is stirring within them.
There is a pressing need to reconcile their faith and find deeper meaning, to connect with the intuitive, soul-level wisdom that Sophia represents.
This resurgence is not without its challenges.
Women who dare to openly explore their spiritual connection to the divine feminine often face ridicule, dismissal or even condemnation from more dogmatic religious authorities. The literal interpretations of scriptures have long been used to suppress women's spiritual leadership and agency.
Yet the tide is turning.
Across diverse faiths and cultural traditions, the divine feminine is reclaiming her rightful place in the hearts and minds of awakening women.
Sophia's wisdom, long relegated to the margins, is now rising to the forefront - empowering women to embrace their intuitive insights, their mystical experiences, and their unshakable connection to the sacred.
Restoring the Balance: Sophia's Call to Reintegrate the Divine Feminine
This is a profound reawakening, as women around the world rediscover the divine feminine essence that has always been theirs.
Sophia's return to consciousness signals a transformative shift, as the suppressed wisdom of the ages is finally restored to its rightful place.
