EVENSONG: Job 1:13-22 | Mt 24:3-35

INTROIT. Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight, and blessed is the servant whom He shall find watching; and again, unworthy is the servant whom He shall find heedless. Beware, therefore, O my soul, do not be weighed down with sleep, lest you be given up to death and lest you be shut out of the Kingdom. But rouse yourself crying: Holy, holy, holy, art Thou, O our God. Through Blessed Mary Theotokos, have mercy on us.

COLLECT: OF THE DAY. O Lord God, Whose blessed Son, our Saviour, gave His back to the smiters and hid not His face from shame; grant us grace to take joyfully the sufferings of the present time, in full assurance of the glory that shall be revealed; through the same Thy Son Jesus Christ, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
