The independent inquiry into foreign electoral interference begins public hearings today.

Many who follow both international relations and national security question whether this will solve anything, as Canada aims to learn more about how they can protect themselves from foreign interference.

Was the country warned about these dangers in the past? Was intelligence on foreign interference ignored?

One expert says yes, and suggests inquiries have become more a national sport, than a serious investigation.
