I feel ashamed
That I don’t have any money to my name

I want to blame past versions of myself
Who wanted to prove
Live beyond their means
It would seem that I thought I wasn’t good enough
Afraid to trust the life inside
To know I’m held by love
By light
And what might look like a failure on the outside
Or where you may perceive me as walking around blind
I’ve forgotten what is linear time
You see, it’s when I rhyme that I see a truth
That, right now, having nothing to my name
Is a sign that I’ve been brave
That I’ve not been afraid to follow my heart
Where I’ve learnt
That what I have, doesn’t say anything about who I am
Who we are
Star-dust
Energy appearing physical
An Earth born miracle
So don’t be ashamed
If it appears that you have nothing to your name
Or if the everything you do have
Doesn’t bring you the joy you seek
You are not weak
There’s nothing that you need to fix
I believe there’s a lesson in every brick that builds a home
There’s a realisation in every twist and turn
And when you yearn to be away from where you are
You’ve forgotten how far your soul travelled
To experience being human
And even on the days you feel forlorn
In the centre of a storm
Or lost out at sea
Simply pause, return to nature and breathe
See your life through compassionate eyes
See the beauty in every verse of your life
Remember the light
That shines bright from inside
And if your challenges have you ever in doubt
Know that this light can’t ever go out
with love,
Emma
