The days are getting shorter

The nights are growing long.

The birds will be migrating

Taking with them all their songs

The air is crisp and chilly

We’re trading shorts for scarves

‘Tis autumn, ‘tis autumn, ‘tis autumn.

The leaves are changing color

Look at their vibrant hues

The tree branches will be bare

But they’ll bloom again, too

Grab a jacket, dear, it’s chilly

The wind is blowing through

‘Tis autumn, ‘tis autumn, ‘tis autumn

Black boots, leather jackets, tights, and hats

Sipping tea and chai lattes, I’m alright with that.

Come November, grabbing a sweater’s old hat

And yes, it’s getting darker

You’re tired, melancholy, and not sure why

In the middle of a movie, you might have to cry

Come December, they’ll sing Is Love a Lie?

And yes, it’s even darker

It’s darker than you could imagine

Where there was once light

But you know we’ve been here before

And we will be all right

The nights are not forever

The moon always shines bright

So grab a candle and blanket

And please do hold on tight

Soup on the stove

Your friends on the couch

You start to think this is what it’s all about

So let’s cozy on up and let the world quiet down

‘Tis autumn, ‘tis autumn, ‘Tis autumn
