Current Time.
My team reads every comment online, especially on social media, because their mentors believe that positive engagement with followers helps foster loyalty and strengthen our community. However, neither of them expected to stumble across this comment while scrolling through social media because it describes The Liat Show better than we could have ever anticipated:
“Liat Portal’s story is a reminder of music’s unique ability to transcend boundaries. The way she reflects on her Israeli roots, blending them with universal themes of connection and creativity, feels deeply moving. It’s a bit like how we always saw music—not just as entertainment but as a way to break through barriers and speak to something larger within all of us.
What stood out to me was how Liat approached her storytelling, almost like composing a song. Every detail—the cultural elements, her personal anecdotes, and her musical influences—comes together harmoniously. Her collaboration with Kevin Alexander is proof of the magic that happens when artists come together with open hearts and a shared vision. It’s the kind of creative courage the world needs more of, and it’s heartening to see her putting it out there for others to experience.”
I had never considered storytelling as a kind of musical composition before, but this beautifully captures the essence of what I strive to do in my work. This comment struck a chord with me and reminded me why I started sharing my journey in the first place: to bridge people from different cultures and nations in the digital era and not rely solely on the interests of organizations and institutions. One of the most troubling aspects of the digital era is bots impersonating people. Social media has brought loneliness and difficulties in building and maintaining personal connections. As a result, bot developers can easily exploit these insecurities and program bots to manipulate people for profit.
Society needs to find ways to educate everyone, from boomers to Gen Z, on how to identify real profiles versus bots. We must teach and learn how to build connections, spark dialogue, and make friends across borders and cultures, even within the boundaries of the digital era and social media. It’s not just about telling our stories; it’s about inviting others to join the conversation and make the journey their own.

In this journey, I weave together episodes from my life with the rich tapestry of Israeli culture through music, food, arts, entrepreneurship, and more. I write over the weekends and evenings and publish these episodes as they unfold, almost like a live performance.
Each episode is part of a set focused on a specific topic, though sometimes I release standalone episodes. A set is released over several days to make it easier for you to read during your busy workday. If one episode catches your attention, make sure to read the entire set to get the whole picture. Although these episodes are released in sets, you can read the entire newsletter from the beginning, as it flows smoothly, like music to your ears - or, in this case, your eyes.
The Liat Show is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
