Description

Our little baby is finally old enough to drink! In this 21st episode of the Idaho Booze Podcast, Loose Screw Beer Co. invites me out to their brand new flagship location in downtown Meridian to chop it up with me about all things Loose Screw. Owner Mike Garcia and his brew team, Marcos and Jake, talk about the beginnings of Loose Screw and how their lives are going to change with a shiny new brewery. We also talk about the special characteristics of the brewery itself, which is quite interesting. The audio is a little echoy and there’s construction noise, but I think we cleaned it up ok. I give you advice on how to make it through Thanksgiving with a couple of different scenarios and a couple of really nice batch cocktails that will brighten up your holiday. Then in Friday Night Pints, I review a bunch of Loose Screw beers plus the winter releases from Barbarian were announced, what to expect with those fun wintery wonders. It’s a great big episode of the Idaho Booze Podcast this week. Cheers!

Gem State Manhattan

* 12 ounces 1792 Bourbon

* 6 Ounces sweet vermouth

* 6 generous dashes of Warn Reserve Aromatic bitters

* 3 ounces of water

Measure out all the ingredients and funnel them into an empty bottle. Give them a good mix and taste it, adding bitters or vermouth if needed. Freeze for at least 3 hours, makes 6 drinks. (base recipe found here).

Clarified Old Fashioned (Recipe from The Thirsty Whale)

* 4 cups Koenig Caldwell Nights Rodeo 100 proof Whiskey

* 6 oz House Made Syrups Barrel Aged Old Fashioned syrup

* 2 big dashes Warn Reserve Aromatic Bitters

* 1 cup water

* 1 cup whole milk

* Pinch of salt

Pour everything into a bowl adding the milk last. Cover the bowl overnight. The next day you will see the milk has curdled. Strain out the milk using a couple of paper towels or a cheesecloth filter and pour your cocktail into an empty bottle. Once you’ve separated the milk curd from the cocktail, you just pour that over ice with an orange peel and cherry and you’re good to go. Should make 8-12 drinks.

Idaho Cosmo

* 12 ounces of 44 North Tangerine Vodka

* 8 ounces triple sec

* 4 ounces fresh lime juice

* 1 ounce cranberry juice

Pour all of that into an empty booze bottle, give it a mix, and taste for sweetness. Pour into chilled martini glasses with a cranberry and rosemary sprig for garnish. Makes 6 drinks. (base recipe can be found here)
