I talked with my children, Samuel and Olivia, about celebrity Christians.
Musicians, athletes, actors and actresses, business owners, elected officials and others who talk about their faith—and especially new faith in Jesus Christ—have much pressure on them. Social media is piled on top of money, status, success, and fame that comes with whoever they are. Then, some folks become Christians, they get attention, and they don’t produce fruit. It’s a big challenge in a culture where instant information can cause folks to make instant judgments. If the seed has fallen on good soil—grown with Scripture reading, prayer, church, and other things—we will see that 30 percent, 60 percent, or 100 percent from the Parable of the Sower.
In this podcast, we mention some specific individuals who have already proven themselves, and others who were not given time to mature, grow, and produce fruit.
