Description

Misdirection doesn't always come in the form of a lie. Sometimes it's simply a shift in focus - an invitation to look over here, so we don't have to face what's difficult over there. Corporations, political systems, and even churches have used this strategy to protect power. But misdirection isn't only external. We do it to ourselves, too -- when we deflect, justify, or quietly look away from what our inner knowing tries to name.

In this episode, I share the story of how the sugar industry shaped decades of health policy by paying scientists to redirect public attention away from sugar and toward fat. But what lingers isn't just the manipulation, it's the everyday human choices behind it. The ones made for safety, for belonging, for comfort. The ones that seemed small at the time, but rippled outward in ways no one could have predicted. And it's not just history -- we see this pattern today, when difficult truths are buried beneath louder, more convenient narratives.

We explore what it means to live with integrity -- not as perfection, but as a daily practice of turning toward what's true. Integrity may not undo the harm of the past, but it's how we stop feeding the lie. In a world shaped by conscious misdirection, choosing to see clearly is a revolutionary act of love.
