Hello hello. Good morning!

Today, we find ourselves together on a most auspicious day. In the Zen tradition, this is Bodhi Day, or the day we recognize as when the Buddha became enlightened.

Meditation existed before the Buddha, but his enlightenment was something new. It is said that he sat all through the night, as many practitioners do on this day and then… “At dawn, looking at the morning star, he exclaimed: ‘How wonderful! I and all beings have simultaneously realized the Way.’”

There is, of course, much that came before this day in Buddha’s journey to enlightenment and much came after, but what I hope for you to take away from this (whatever your faith tradition may be or may not be) is that a simple human found a simple practice that helped him and others in a deep way.

So today, in honor of all of this, we sit in the same quiet that the Buddha did, under the same stars.

Thank you for being here today, friends. 💗 Take care.

✨ In honor of Bodhi Day, perhaps it’s a good time to sign up for a mindfulness session or a meditation class? Other sessions are available, of course, for whatever care you might need. https://makespacemeditation.as.me/
