Description

Right now, you and I are being perpetually bombarded with an onslaught of soul-crushing news, Constitutional crises, and human rights atrocities. It is beyond what we can carry.

One of the byproducts of this sustained urgency is that we can find ourselves so pulled in a million directions that we are unable to be lucid and effective.

I’ve found one of the most helpful questions in these and other times of adversity to be, “What is mine to hold?”

It’s about seeing the threats, acknowledging the suffering, and admitting the scale of the problems, but realizing that we are finite in our physical, emotional, and mental resources to respond.

Asking what is ours to hold, helps take the everything that we are burdened by and to jettison what is beyond our control and outside of our capabilities. This helps us focus on where we do have agency and can bring transformation.

Today, do your best to let go of what isn’t yours to hold, so you can fully grasp what is.
