1 Thessalonians 1:10, "And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."
We are waiting for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to return to this earth from heaven. God raised his Son Jesus from the dead. As a result of his resurrection we are delivered from the wrath to come. Jesus took all of our punishment upon Calvary. Now we who believe and receive this good news are delivered from God's wrath.
We need to cultivate this attitude of waiting for Jesus to return. Many Christians never think about the return of the Lord Jesus or his kingdom. They are preoccupied with their own self interest in this temporary life on earth. Actively looking for the return of Christ earns the believer a crown at his return. 2 Timothy 4:8.
Heavenly Father, I want to continue to watch for the return of the Lord. Help me to always live each day with hope in the return of Christ. Help me to cultivate this attitude of faith in the return of Jesus Christ. Deliver me from the love of this world that would make me set my heart on things below on this earth and not on the world to come. In Jesus name. Amen.
