1 Corinthians 14:12, "Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church."
Paul never corrected this church for being zealous of spiritual gifts. Instead, he channeled that zeal into a direction that would be most productive. People who use the letters to the Corinthians to minimize, downplay, or demonize Pentecostals in the modern church are barking up the wrong tree. These letters to the Corinthians only strengthen the facts and the reality of the Pentecostal experience of Christians in the church then and now.
Our goal in using spiritual gifts is to edify, build, encourage, and comfort others in the church. 1 Corinthians 14:3.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for all of the spiritual gifts. Give people the wisdom to use the spiritual gifts to help others, to build up the church, to encourage, and to comfort God's people. I pray for the spiritual wisdom to go along with the spiritual gifts for your people. Amen.
