John 11:31, "The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there."
As believers in Jesus we know that death is not the end of the road. We know we will see our loved ones again one day, those who were also Christians. And yet, even though death is not final, we still grieve and mourn the loss of our loved ones and family members. The Lord enters into this grief, and he weeps with us.
Death no longer has any sting for the believer in Jesus. The grave no longer has victory over the believer in Jesus. 1 Corinthians 15:55.
LORD JESUS, the scripture says that you wept with Mary and Martha at the loss of their brother. You felt all of their grief, and loss, and pain. And at the same time you knew that you would in a few moments raise Lazarus from the dead. This is hard for me to wrap my mind around, but I thank you for loving me through all of the temporary and transient problems in my life. You have always been there to comfort me, even though ultimately you already know I will be with you in eternity and all of these sorrows on earth will be forgotten like a dream. Amen.
