Psalms 49:14-15, "Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. (15) But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah."
This scripture contrasts the wicked with the righteous. The wicked are compared to sheep that are laid in the grave and death shall feed on them. But the upright shall have dominion in the morning. "In the morning" points forward to the resurrection that Paul teaches about in 1 Corinthians 15.
The ultimate destiny of the righteous and the wicked are contrasted all through the Bible. Psalm chapter 1 is one good example.
Lord, I thank you that the reign of the wicked on this earth is temporary, but when you return and raise your people your kingdom will be forever and ever. Weeping may remain for the night, but joy comes in the morning. Thank you, Father God, for the promise that you redeem my soul from the power of the grave and that you receive me. Thank you, Jesus, for redeeming me through your precious blood and bringing me back to God. Amen.
