Matthew 27:64, "Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first."

Even the attempt of these religious leaders to cover up the resurrection of Jesus provides further proof that Jesus Christ indeed rose from the dead.

By trying to lock down the burial tomb they provided another opportunity for God to demonstrate his power in raising Jesus Christ from the dead. The tomb could not hold him. The guards could not stop him. Matthew 27:63-66.

Heavenly Father, I see in this account of the burial of Jesus how you made even the enemies of the Lord Jesus provide further proof of his resurrection when they tried to seal his tomb with a guard. This shows even more specifically the reality of the resurrection. No man could have stolen the body of the Lord Jesus. Jesus was raised from the dead, and the Roman guards could not hold back the work of God. Amen.
