Each week following guest interviews for the podcast Unknown to Known we will share words of encouragement. Use these bonus episodes to push yourself to show up, be bold and try something new. The goal is to help you become on-camera ready so you can go after your dreams: big or small.
Transcript:
Maglietta: Breathe. You're about to do something big, monumental. Walking out on a stage to give your first talk. Showing up on social media, on camera for the first time. Recording that TV interview. Doing a presentation in front of your whole team. Whatever it is, showing up on camera takes courage. It takes strategy. It takes thinking like a producer sometimes. to push yourself out there no matter what. And on this podcast, I talk to individuals who are doing just that. Some are television news anchors, reporters, while others are YouTubers and new podcasters who see the value in showing up. And after each guest conversation, there'll be a bonus episode. That bonus episode will offer words of encouragement, either for myself, the previous guest, or maybe even a special guest. I want you to know you're supported, and we're here to guide you and encourage you with every big step you're trying to take and make to build your brand online. Here's this week's (ON CAM) Ready bonus episode.
Bettes: I'm Alison Bettes, author of romantic suspense novels. Thank you for listening to our conversation. Now I'd like to give you some words of encouragement. I know that feeling in your stomach right now, that mix of excitement, but also nerves before the storm rolls in. Sorry for the pun. As a meteorologist, I have stood in front of a camera with thousands of eyes on me, not really knowing whether or not the forecast I've just given them would pan out. And as a novelist, I've put my heart
on paper knowing that strangers would read all of my words and form their own opinions. Both require courage and both require stepping into the unknown and you are about to do the exact same thing. Something bold, something that might feel risky and here's what I want you to remember. Every powerful story starts with a turning point and this is yours. The sky doesn't stay cloudy forever, storms will pass and the same goes for the fear that you are likely feeling right now. The moment
you take that first step, whether it's hitting publish or stepping on stage or even just simply saying yes to a new opportunity, that fear starts to dissolve. So don't wait for the perfect conditions. There is no perfect moment. There's just this moment and it is enough. So go be brave, go be bold and remember, just like in the best romance novels, the most beautiful chapters are the ones where the character dares to follow their own heart and dreams. This is the start of your next chapter.
Step into it as I've stepped into mine and after you step into yours and are ready to unwind, maybe kick back with one of my books. Good luck on your next journey.
Maglietta: I just want to thank Alison for giving those words of encouragement. Again, best of luck putting yourself out there and come back for more advice on how to show up and be on CamReady. You can also go to the YouTube channel. There'll be bonus episodes there, tutorials, explainers to just help you wrap your head around creating content.
