Elastic Heart
Gripping God’s hand
I’ve trudged through
jungles, skyscrapered side walks, deserts
terrors foreign and familiar
libraries and social feeds
I’ve rested in hammocks
stepped into prisons concrete and imagined
tasted and seen the bitter cup
looking for a better one [God]
I glance back at my fingers— gripped
surprised and amazed by
how far God’s arm has stretched.
