This week Frank opens by talking about the innovative (or lazy?) fold down and fold up Christmas trees that are being advertised this year. This is followed by a discussion of data mining in business, a topic from a class that recently ended. While important for competitive advantage in business, it does lead to many privacy issues. He wonders if we can become informed enough and make it a priority to push back to reclaim our privacy. To end the show, Frank comments on the recent shocking tragedy involving Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. Rob was ubiquitous thorough his great work and, like many celebrities, Frank feels like he knew him a little bit vicariously. It is impossible in tribute to not mention Rob being known for his left-leaning advocacy which many disagreed with. However, this is not an excuse to withhold kindness and generosity knowing we are all human with many things in common. To illustrate, Frank discusses an often-overlooked biblical verse when the Kingdom of Judah fed the Assyrians after battle and before they made there way back home. A personal situation similar to this occurred in the late 90s after attending a friend's high school alma mater's football game.
While not mentioned in the podcast, listeners can look up Rob Reiner's appearance in the country music video of Reba McEntire and Linda Davis singing "Does He Love You?" circa 1994. It's on YouTube and quite amusing. It's a good song too.
