Investing in the Akhirah & Balancing Dunya

๐Ÿ“† Date: 6th of Ramadan

๐Ÿ“– Discussion Topics: Wealth, capitalism, Islamโ€™s balanced approach, and divine accountability.

๐Ÿ”น The Reality of Our Time on Earth vs. the Akhirah

๐Ÿ”น Human lifespan is limited โ€“ The maximum biological limit is 120 years.

๐Ÿ”น Akhirah is eternal โ€“ A wise person invests in what is permanent, not just what is temporary.

๐Ÿ’ก But does this mean we abandon the Dunya?

No! Islam is a civilization-building religion.

๐Ÿ“– Islam Encourages Productivity & Knowledge

๐Ÿ”น The first revelation was not about prayer or fasting. It was:

๐Ÿ“– ุงู‚ู’ุฑูŽุฃู’ (Read!)

๐Ÿ”น Islam values knowledge โ€“ whether religious or worldly sciences.

๐Ÿ”น Economic productivity is rewarded:

๐Ÿ“Œ The Prophet ๏ทบ said that a person who works hard for a living is rewarded like someone striving in jihad.

๐Ÿ’ก Islam encourages wealth and progress, but it must serve humanity and not corrupt the soul.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Capitalism, Greed & Wealth Distribution

The Modern Capitalist Worldview:

๐Ÿ“Œ Today, success is measured by GDP growth, but:

โœ”๏ธ GDP per capita rises, but wealth distribution worsens.

โœ”๏ธ 1% of the worldโ€™s richest control most of the wealth.

โœ”๏ธ Poverty is still widespread despite economic growth.

๐Ÿ”น History of Wealth Distribution:

โ€ข 1945-1980: The โ€œCompression Yearsโ€ โ€“ The wealth gap was closing, and public goods (e.g., free university) were more accessible.

โ€ข 1980-Present: The gap widens, as capitalism prioritises profit over people.

๐Ÿ’ก The danger of unchecked capitalism โ€“ Greed has been normalised.

๐Ÿ“– The Islamic Economic Model โ€“ Between Capitalism & Communism

๐Ÿ”น Islam avoids both extremes:

โœ”๏ธ Communism โ€“ Forcing wealth equality through the state.

โœ”๏ธ Unregulated Capitalism โ€“ A system where greed is the driving force.

๐Ÿ”น Islamic Principles of Wealth:

โœ”๏ธ Wealth is a test, not the goal.

โœ”๏ธ Zakat (2.5%) ensures redistribution of surplus wealth.

โœ”๏ธ Waqf (charitable endowments) supports public welfare.

โœ”๏ธ Trade & business are encouraged but must be ethical.

๐Ÿ’ก Islamic economics is built on justice โ€“ wealth circulates, not accumulates in a few hands.
